How To Use Text Chat & Video Chat On Snapchat?

Snapchat, the app used by teenagers to send vanishing photo messages has morphed itself into a complete messaging app by adding the ability to use text chat on its platform. While we were only able to send photo messages and video messages on Snapchat till now, the addition of this text messaging feature could pose serious threat to more mainstream messenger apps like WhatsApp, Wechat, Line etc.

So, it offers you the best of both worlds by placing the control in your hand.

Though it doesn’t matter much if your text messages are ephemeral or not, beware if you intend to send sensitive snaps (photos and videos) on Snapchat. It is quite easy to save Snapchat snaps permanently without a user’s knowledge.

How To Use Text Chat On Snapchat?

To use text chat on Snapchat all you need to do is swipe from left to right on a contact’s name in your inbox. This will open the chat screen. Just enter the text and hit send. You can keep on chatting and all the messages will vanish once you leave the chat screen. Unviewed messages will still be available for single viewing.

If you intend to save or delete a chat (message) you have received, tap on the chat (message) and choose the appropriate option.

How To Use Video Chat On Snapchat?

After you have opened the chat screen, the yellow camera icon turns blue and blinks if your friend is available at the moment. Tap and hold the camera icon to start your video chat. The chat ends the moment you remove your finger from the screen.

Snapchat has also packed in an additional cool feature to video chat. You can change from front-facing camera to rear camera or vice-versa just by swiping your finger from the bottom of the screen to the top or from the top of the screen to bottom.

How To Send Video Messages On Snapchat?

If you don’t know yet how to send video messages on Snapchat, it is about time you learn how to do it. On Snapchat’s home screen, tap and hold the icon used to take pictures (the round icon at the bottom center of the screen). Once the video message has been recorded, tap on the arrow icon at the bottom right and select the contact you would like to send the video message to. Once this is done, tap on the arrow icon at the bottom right and your video message is delivered.
