icarus I got a dead page too. some 404 error when I clicked it from my laptop. so I pulled up the 1mtb webpage on my android smartphone and clicked directly on the link in the 1mtb webpage from my phone and the link worked fine. My other option was to try typing in the link manually and leave off the extension (example: http://huodong.yunpan.360.cn) to go to Yunpan webpage and from there try to find the link to the (/xt) part of the link. I hope this helps.

After the obligatory phone verification does anyone finished the register?

      • Faisal July 16, 2015, 12:53

I just tried to register and now I can see they need mobile number for SMS verification code. I am coming from outside china and when I try to give my local mobile number with international prefix, the field length does not allow me to enter the full number.

Has anyone been able to do it , or find a way around it.

        • Patrick April 6, 2016, 13:25

not working for me either, field length just doesnt take intl phone numbers

  • Flippity Widget July 15, 2014, 11:26

This looks too good to be true. Forgive me for being skeptical but I have to ask what does Qihoo get from giving away 36TB of storage? Has anyone vetted the client/app/sync software to be sure it’s safe, ie. free of malware and viruses? A member of my family got bitten by “cryptolocker” and so I am just a tad more skeptical these days than I used to be and I was pretty skeptical before that happened. Maybe this is a limited trial offer and they hope to gain subscribers. That would explain things a bit. I haven’t translated the pages yet so maybe the answers to my questions are there.

    • Sebastian Johansson August 18, 2014, 23:20

The windows app should be safe. I scanned it.

The app how ever. it isnt safe. Wanted to send sms and other creepy shit.

    • mofker November 8, 2014, 18:36

Yep, it does, but it’s not as good as it looks, after two weeks, I’ve reached the conclusion that it’s an awful service, uploading wise and it’s not worth the trouble. Maybe some chinese payed for it, I’ve seen the screen caps of the guy using 1TB, but I never managed to work around it. Uploading went bust after 25GB or so, it uploads 2GB/day then it never manages to upload at least one single file for the remaining 23 hours or so. Tried to make a 2nd account, upload from there with full speed, and then import that data to the first account on the web page, it never let me log in from a download page. Possibly to prevent bypassing of speed limitations.

All in all, it’s a nice gimmick / marketing tactic offering so much space, but it’s not worth it, i.e. not real. Trust me!

It’s the only reason I’ve come here, to make a “review” and worn people to not waste their time.

      • Ozonosfera January 31, 2015, 09:23

I have 226 GB of warez in my 360 cloud drive. Still uploading and downloading well.

      • anotherPerson March 31, 2015, 03:45

The reason for your slow speed might be caused by your distance from the cloud servers (in China). It works fine for me.

    • Mr.Donut March 17, 2016, 07:31

Trust me, its legit. I am a ABC(American Born Chinese) myself and i’v been using this service for years. I currently have 3 of my computer backed up, and tons of Movies and stuff in this cloud storage, which is about 10 TB. I get great upload/download speed when I’m back in china and everything worked fine. About what Qihoo can get fron doing this, its very simple — costumers. They have more software that is not free, and people IN CHINA that uses this storage will likely to buy other software they have, that’s why there’s no English version of this. Also they can make money from paid VIP Turbo boost, which doubles your download speed.

Any idea how to register without CHinese mobile number?

        • Rogins May 3, 2016, 10:58

I have the same question, how to sign up without a Chinese ph #?? I’ve been trying for days! Anyone have an answer? PLZ?

  • mikyyy July 18, 2014, 20:23

I just get my 36 TB and i hope it will last forever (I see first time that 36 TB is offered for free)
So I grab my chance and now I have it.
I hope it is not just like promotion (1 month) than pay if you like or if not We will close your account :)

  • n0xi0uzz July 24, 2014, 13:23

    Thanks for this howto.

Do you know any software for making backups to this cloud service?

    • ARM July 24, 2014, 14:14

Use software like BackUpPC or Redo Backup and Recovery to backup your 360 Drive.

    • efon April 9, 2015, 02:20

360 program has its own backup built in. you just have to activate it.

  • MarkusMcNugen July 28, 2014, 18:59

To the author of this article. Feel free to take some of the info or pictures from my google doc about this and add it to your article. Posting the info about the storage wars in China and a link to Qihoos wikipedia page would probably help put some peoples minds at ease using the service.

    • ARM July 28, 2014, 22:14

I have added Wikipedia links to Qihoo, Tencent and Baidu in their respective articles. Thanks for your advice!

  • how July 29, 2014, 00:44

how the hell do they not go bankrupt offering so much free storage? I dont understand their business model, who’s going to pay for even more space?

    • ARM July 29, 2014, 09:31

I also have the 36 TB Storage since 6 Weeks… Nice one, BUT ! There is a 2 Gigabyte Upload Limit a Day !!!
Every Account can Upload 2 GB max in 24 Hours !
JPG Files are not affected by this Upload Limit…..

    • iori11 August 31, 2014, 19:31

well its gonna take some time to fill thos 36 Tb now .. there is always a catch

    • Terry September 21, 2014, 14:23

Well, I left the upload running for 3 days and managed to upload 15gb of mp3 files in the first 12 hours or so. However, after that, the upload speed was drastically reduced, to a point where it has become unusable. I get the occasional spurt of activity, but nothing more than about 80Kb/s usually a lot less. A lot of the time, the upload stops completely.

Is this the norm – or am I on my own with these symptoms?

      • LX2 October 11, 2014, 07:14

I managed to upload 25gb onto Baidu Yunpan… and everything still seems fine for now…

      • mofker November 8, 2014, 18:24

At the beginning it works fine, but then the 2GB / day limit shows up. It’s pretty deceiving offering 36TB but not being able to fill them, not even 100GB of data. At this rate, it’s better to pay for a drive than to waste power on uploading with 100KB/s.

  • Anubiz August 28, 2014, 22:27

ok, i got the 10 TB for the Desktop Client, but i cant login into the iPad App(some chinese error msg), and the link for the 26 extra is 404, even if i could?

    • ARM August 29, 2014, 11:00

Make sure you have entered the right credentials and try again. The link should work fine too!

  • Aman Janko September 2, 2014, 21:06

Can somebody provide the translations for the desktop app?? There are 2 password fields apparently but typing the passwords twice don’t help…..

  • amjad September 4, 2014, 20:26

Can somebody provide the translations for the desktop app and sync application??

    • Michael September 4, 2014, 21:05

As I know there are no translation Files @ the Moment….
You can try to look for the “ini” Files in your Installation Folder and
translate it via Google Translater…. Never tried but read in a Forum that
      it should be possible…

      • Daniel September 6, 2014, 12:37

        Hi all,

In fact, it works fine for me. I’ve tried the steps in the recommended order – no issues met. I even edited the ‘ini’ file named ‘Language’ as proposed by Michael. Well, while it isn’t the best translation right now, it does help to understand the application a lil more.

Thanks to all who put this together.

        • J September 9, 2014, 23:38

Thanks for sharing the fact that it worked, I also tried it and it worked quite nicely.
(But apparently not all text is saved in the ini file, so quite some of it is not translated sadly…)

        • Andreina Garban September 16, 2014, 16:53

Hi Daniel, I am not very savvy about “editing”. I found the “ini” as “language” and then click on Edit and copy the whole thing to Google Translate, but I am not very sure. If it possible you could upload the whole text the way you edited? Thanks!

      • Shejuti September 10, 2014, 22:30

Hello Michael, that looks like a workable wonderful idea! But, can you, by any chance provide a bit more details on how to do that EXACTLY? I’m totally lost in using this and I really want ANY sort of translation to help me use this application better!

        • Michael September 11, 2014, 15:27

          Hi Shejuti !

I never tried to translate the Words inside the “Language.ini” File, just read that it is possible….
Maybe “Daniel or “J” can supply the Page where they found the Manual
with the Steps to translate the Desktop App, or Sync App….
I just know that you have to search for the “Language.ini” File inside
the Installation Folder of 360… (C:\Program Files (x86)\360)
Open the File and you will find a lot of Chinese Words….
You can translate these Words with “translate.google.com” to your
prefered Language…. Save the File and open 360……
Maybe it is so simple but I don`t know….

          best regards

          • mofker November 8, 2014, 18:26

I’ve translated the Language.ini file, but the app doesn’t follow it, or just on a few spots, about 90% of the app is still in chinese.

          • Shejuti January 26, 2015, 16:00

I tried editing the “language.ini” file… I copied the text in it, pasted in google translate’s board which translated it to English, copied that text and finally copied it into the “language.ini” file… BUT… when I went on to save it… It says “Access Denied” eventhough I’m the administrator of my own PC… How about that? By the way, that trick worked when I installed the client for my netbook.

            • Pejii June 26, 2015, 13:14

you are the admin, but notepad is not. run notepad as administrator, open the ini file again. do your things and save it.

      Load in Browser
      File Info

There is still quite a bit I need to translate, but it’s a pain in the ass using OCR software. Once I’m done I’m going to make a Murican AutoHotkey overlay graphic for it. I wish I could figure out how to edit the skin files because they’re just archives with xml, but for some reason they will not compress back correctly. :(

I’ve managed to get some of it translated and actually work for the tray menu and a few main menu items.

      • Drew November 7, 2014, 16:03

I’m getting closer to translating the client itself. I finally found how to edit the STG file itself tonight after a good week of non stop searching in multiple languages and plenty of cursing. Luckily the Russians did it lol which should be no surprise those guys are crazy and I love them. I successfully edited a file inside the STG with no program crash and hopefully it won’t take too long to fully translate the entire program.

please give it as early as possible man.

        • Rudolph Davis February 28, 2016, 19:16

Do you have that finished language file ?

  • Terry September 20, 2014, 17:54

I have found that the combination of Chrome browser with Google Translate app, and the 360 online web client works better than messing around with the local client – no matter what you achieve with the ‘language.ini’ file, it still leaves many Chinese labels/headings untranslated.

GT will translate almost all of the Chinese characters that appear in the online app, although there’s sometimes a short delay.

Lastly, is seems to be a waste of time trying to upload large files while the Chinese are still awake. I have an upload speed of 20Mb/s on average, but only get about 17Kb/s and often slower, when trying to upload during their waking hours.

    • Terry October 3, 2014, 02:28

      @ david

Chrome browser and google translate app help a lot. However, if you have a lot of stuff to upload it will take you and age to do it. I wanted to upload 120gb of mp3 files, but the upload speeds are extremely variable. There seems to be a built in restriction of 2gb per day.

      Just a heads up.

apk application to send by gmail detects as a Viruz

    • micky January 23, 2015, 04:07

I have uploaded 20 gb which is all my pictures, haven’t uploaded anything which i wouldn’t share with anyone else.
anyway that was uploading at night while sleep. virgin media has upload caps, so them who seem to be having really bad upload speeds, just make sure your not reaching your upload limit.
virgin media caps are set monday to friday 4 pm to 11pm and saturday to sunday 11am to 11pm, in this time you have between 1 and 2gb upload cap which is a bit crap. well the upload speed is crap too to say you get such fast download speeds. least you only need to upload it once, aye… I will do a follow up comment to this if anything changes with the uploading.

  • Ques November 7, 2014, 02:28

Just wondering with this storage do they delete your files if not shared?
    Will they last forever?

    • mofker November 8, 2014, 18:29

Don’t bother, with the upload speed limitations in place, the cartload of TB’s are only a smoke screen. Most people won’t even make it to 100GB and give up. It’s much more efficient to make two MEGA accounts and be done with it.

      • batfink January 6, 2015, 06:41

        whats a MEGA account?

        • Raymond January 6, 2015, 21:45

The upload speed is as slow as it was 25 years ago 35KBPS….My speed in communicating with the internet is is 100MBPS up/down. Talking about a bottleneck…..
Uploading one picture of 45MB took about 1 hour. So I started to select one folder with only 150 pictures and left it uploading by night. Next morning the third picture had an upload failure and the process stopped. So this mega cloud store has no value what so ever. You cannot use it for anything. My conclusion is that Qihoo has a goal for themselfes with this mega storage…..
I have Little Snitch running and it shows a constant activity in outgoing contact with Qihoo. So I disconnected the connection with Qihoo. I think I will remove my account with this Chinese company. Just don’t trust it.
When something seems to good to be true, beware, because it IS to good to be true.

  • martin fennell November 13, 2014, 04:30

Thank you. I downloaded the program. I entered my log in and pw.
Then I hit the blue button. A number appeared
Then I tried logging in at the site where you get your free space.
I put login name in the first box and my pw in the second.
It told me my password or number was wrong. But I didn’t really notice that until later.
I thought it was the captcha. Then I decided to say I forgot my pw. So I applied to put in a new one which i did. But now the program won’t recognise the passd
Okay, I’ve been done this and that to the point where I’ve lost interest, at least for now. Maybe I’ll try again another time. I did try another one of those chinese sites. It may have been baidu. But Jeez, the upload was very slow. So I stopped it. Thanks for the help anyhow.

  • Awais Ahmed November 15, 2014, 01:36

Yeah somehow I tried and got 36T thanks a lot :) its really worked :)

  • Raymond November 16, 2014, 14:08

Hi, I got the 36TB account and it works fine and the same as DropBox. So I have everything in my finder and it’s fully accessible. It seems like heaven…..
BUT, the Little Snitch Network Monitor shows a constant activity with Qihoo and after just 3 minutes there is an interaction of 20/25 mb (up/down). It’s not me up- downloading data…..
So now I become very skeptical, what’s happening here, what’s in it for Qihoo, why do they offer such a massive space. How does this shown activities effect my computer, what do they do with it and with my data? What do they do with my pictures?
Does anyone know this company very well, I mean know better then I can read on WiKI?

  • joan November 19, 2014, 15:35

Hi I try to copy/paste the language.ini file but as I’m using a mac I cannot find the file in the 360 desktop program. any ideas?? thanks!

  • Aly November 27, 2014, 03:16

I was able to get the Windows program to work fine. +10TB!

However, I can’t login to the Android APK. I put the correct login details – trust me – I even changed my password to a simple one. Still wouldn’t work! It won’t let me register for a new account either. Putting my phone number doesn’t help (probably because its U.S. number?)

    Any help would be appreciated!

    • Marc December 22, 2014, 17:37

After downloading PC app it shows that it’s not proper Win32 app and cannot be installed. Any ideas?

  • Taddeo December 9, 2014, 04:24

I’ve installed the app in my macbook pro but all i get is a notification of a crying cartoon with some Chinese writing which in my opinion is telling me that the files are not being uploaded. It happened the same with Weiyun and I was trying the give this one a try but it is happening the same. My other files storages such as Google drive are uploading files normally. Any idea why this is happening to me?

  • B_ReaLm December 26, 2014, 09:42

I just got the service, but I can say that I am not experiencing the same problems as many have posted here. I got the 36tb storage without issues and my upload speeds are amazing for a free service. I currently have uploaded more than 10gb in an less than 2 hours with no limitations, and I can seeming upload more. I kept seeing people say that there was only a 2gb upload in 24 hours limit. Not for me! However, I will do a follow up to this comment as they could just change things later. I wish there was some translation for English, but I figured out most of it. Security is an issue that I’d like to know about. Why would they give away so much storage for nothing? I am not complaining however. It’s working for me out of the gate. Let’s see how it measures up over time.

  • wepopew December 27, 2014, 04:13

    So far so good here.

Uploaded 10 gigs with no noticeable problems, except once where it failed completely.

It’s not nearly as fast as google drive, but only slightly slower than MEGA co.nz

What I wonder though is about their security, they encrypt it according to the FAQ, but what I’m concerned is whether it’s encrypted before it leaves my PC (client side encryption) like MEGA does.

I’m also interested how they plan to profit from giving so much for free. Hopefully it’s because they know nobody will use more than a TB at worst and it’s all just a publicity stunt (they sure got my attention). The fact that they “hide” it from the west (not marketing it in any way and making it inconvenient for us westerners) supports this theory.

    • wepopew January 23, 2015, 10:29

      Here’s my followup.

The app is a bit buggy. Usually it uploads normally, sometimes it doesn’t. I don’t know what its excuse was since it’s Chinese.

This only happens when I upload TWRP backups, however since for now I’m assuming it’s insecure, so TWRP backups are my only use for it for now.

Thank you for the guideline to have 36 TB Free space on my PC, Mobile & over the Net Cloud. Because of this page i got 36 TB Free cloud storage from Yunpan Qihoo 360 Website. Thank you so much. Please keep up the good work. wish you all the best in life.

  • Teddy February 2, 2015, 20:42

    Hi all.
I am here in china teaching English.
I go back to my home in the UK once a year. I have had this 360 account for well over a year
I think should turn the question around and say with disks starting to drop in price now. why is one-drive and Google drive only giving 10 to 15 gig? 4 tb drive now is in the 99 pound range. 240 users per a disk ? so each user is worth about 25 pence or so a year. this assumes every one is using full 15 gig and no deduping. I guess a fair few files will be copies.
on my 360 cloud disk, I have something silly like 8 tb in it. with a total of 78 gig.
because i can read a little Chinese. I did the daily draw worth 300 MB to 7 gig a day. special promotions for Chinese new year worth one TB a day for a month, installed the antivirus worth an extra 4 TB. Doing the tasks to increase my level . When you go up a level you get one tb or so. oh if you buy a 360 wifi stick . which is about 2 pounds they give you 10 tb free. the wifi stick I got free with a 3G SIM card (10 GB of data for 20 pounds, 6 months to use it , not so bad). out side of china 360 is not very fast. I guess that many will be hitting limits for international transfers. he he every thing is in the USA why need to pay for international peering, but here in china they actually peer with the ISP’S
so on my china telecom isp can upload at the full 4 mb about 470 kbs a second
the download is insane, downloaded the hd version complete series one of the game of King’s chairs from a 360 share, i got 7.3 mg a second for hours at a time scary. china has a tendency to tie accounts with your personal phone number, so don’t worry about that. if worried about security do what i do create a rar archive that is password protected then a zip it up also password protected. that should be relatively secure.
I would never let go of personal data unless it was password protected in some way. And china would have little to no interest in what you were doing. they are mainly interested in trade secrets so careful if you are a company. It is the likes of the nsa which can look at your stuff and have a real effect in your life. lets say you have a map of where you have buried your silver. you keep an electronic back up password protected on a chinese server a hard copy that looks like an old map. then wipe the drive 7 times and zero it . then it would be very hard for the american government to even know you have some silver hidden . If its on a western server then i guess the nsa would take a note and if they decided that you had broken a hoarding law. then its prison for you. keep it simple if in china hide your stuff out side china. if in america hide it in china. then every thing is out side the jurisdiction you live in, . Its where you live that can make your life a misery. Remember the old saying about never using your own door step as a toilet.
Sorry for poor grammar and spelling mistakes. I am a little unwell today

I download the android version and I logged in only to get 2.95 TB. Is there something else that I need to do for me to get the 26 TB atleast if not 36 TB?

I have a problem, I downloaded both the app and the software for windows, and the thing won’t let me register… I suppose this happens because I come from a country forgotten by God and is excluded from everything, and I really wan’t to create an account, any suggestions on what I should do!?!?

  • Magdalena April 19, 2015, 23:03

I downloaded both the app and the software for Windows, and the damn thing won’t let me register. It says my number is in an incorrect format or something.. Anyway I can register without a number, with an e-mail or something?? it is possible that my country is not enlisted in this, because it is excluded in almost everything, and I really, really wan’t to create an account…

Just tried to sign up today. Now they are asking you to verify your phone number to sign up. When I typed in my phone number to recieve the confirmation text it said my number already existed. Then I tried a friends number and got the same situation. Any ideas?

  • Bosaa May 31, 2015, 23:24

It requires phone verification and I put the 12 digit phone number e.g (00 45 followed by the 8 digit mobil number) it says invalid mobile number and it’s accepting only 11 digit number e.g 0 45
Really appreciate it if anyone share the success stories thanks

After all. Can you trust them with your data.

  • Francoise September 9, 2015, 02:46

    1. Thank you for the info.
    2. How do you translate? I can’t copy the Chinese text to paste it in Google translate.
    3. Does anyone know if in Weiyun you can manage the files like in dropbox? It seems to me that they store files but not folders.
    Thank you :)

    • PQ November 17, 2015, 11:48

Thank you for all the information :)

I am trying to look for a cloud storage for my work docs, and after reading the comments, I think I might do a little more research on it.

And I can see quite a number of people are looking for the translation, so I would like to give a hand. Maybe someone could screenshot the Chinese content for me. I don’t mind my translation work to be posted in this blog as the reference for other who are interested.

  • cloudguy October 10, 2015, 22:15

“Create a new account” directs me to “http://yunpan.360.cn/reg” where the registration process needs a mobile number (no email) to register. I am not from china. Every phone number I enter, it shows a “red cross” mark beside the “mobile number” answer box and shows an error message “Malformed phone number”. Please tell me how to register?

  • dataghost December 2, 2015, 20:52

  • zee December 8, 2015, 19:46

For some reason it’s asking for a mobile number instead of an email id in order to register. When I enter my mobile no. it doesn’t recognize it, I get “Malformed phone number” error (translated from chinese). Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

Hi, I tried to register for 360 cloud drive, but I keep get a message that my phone number is malformed. are certain countries not covered? I’m from Zimbabwe.

  • Rudolph Davis February 28, 2016, 17:46

There is not that yellow button anymore..

    • Rudolph Davis February 28, 2016, 18:05

I installed android app and max I could get is 4 TB.

      • metafaniel June 30, 2016, 23:52

That’s correct, I also have 4TB. It seems to be their initial 36TB offer is now part of the past. At present we can get only 4TB for free. Maybe more leveling up the account but I have no idea how to get more storage. But 4TB is fair enough =)

  • gorge March 3, 2016, 06:57

Is it possible to register without giving my real phone number ?

  • tim March 17, 2016, 06:14

I am trying to go through the same step too. But got stuck with the mobile registration. But just found the following. You can register a China mobile number to receive a SMS. But not sure if it will work.

    • Federico March 29, 2016, 14:33

Qihoo accepts the local china number provided by Jego, but the confirmation SMS doesn’t arrives.

      • Federico Liva March 30, 2016, 16:02

I rectify. Now the SMS works and I’ve successfully registered a cloud account.
Maybe I had to wait for the effective number activation.

  • A April 10, 2016, 01:22

You have to sign up with a Chinese phone number now. How do I do this?

  • Charles April 11, 2016, 08:53

On the register page, it will not accept my phone number…is it mandatory that you have a chinese telephone number? didn’t see any space to input the email.

  • PhotoBugg April 25, 2016, 03:42

Tried several times, and it will NOT send me the SMS message. The field length is not long enough for a United States phone number.

How do we work around this?

  • wilson May 10, 2016, 08:06

Being using this even since the first day it launch. They do offer you 36tb, you can also win storages by the lottery. But the amount of storage they offer is a gimmick, they will LIMIT your upload speed to 10/kb after 10- 30 minutes of upload. This is a common problem even for chinese users.

    • metafaniel June 30, 2016, 23:50

TRUE! I can confirm it. At first my uploads were uploading real fast. Now 100-200 KB/s or less for the upload, but oh well…

  • yoma May 13, 2016, 08:20

Why doesn’t consist myanmar region in there,,,,,why? Why? Don’t sigh up in myanmar?

  • nophone May 25, 2016, 01:47

how can i get this without a phone?

  • CharlieSummers June 15, 2016, 03:01

Anyone know any way around the upload problems? I can upload ~200MBPS after midnight to maybe 2-4am China time, then I can’t get anything uploaded (using web on linux box)…all uploads fail.

Have a really embarrassing amount of storage space there (got mine long ago, and am at level 30), and downloads are ok (again, ~200MBPS, this is constant), but uploading small 40M files is failing constantly. Would love to hear people’s workarounds if any…

  • CharlieSummers June 16, 2016, 11:08

Ah, now I see; got a link to this page on my Windows client this evening:

Sold-out or not, they are trying to sell “flying” by limiting standard uploads. Yippee.

    MY TWITTER @metafaniel

    Hi everyone.
I managed to register even with the phone number step. Now 360 Cloud just offers 4TB for free, but is still great. You should use Google Chrome to be able to translate the website. It doesn't translate ALL but it certainly helps a little! Enough talk, into the steps:

    1) The steps in this articule are outdated but are still useful to get 4TB, so you can follow the original guide but with differences I'll try to cover here.

    2) Once you get into the create a new account step where there is a mainland chinese phone number required, I found a way to bypass this using an online service I found: http://www.getsmscode.com/ Let me explain. This website main goal is that one precisely (help users get foreign SMS verification codes using virtual phone numbers. China is covered of course.) This is how it works: this website generates a virtual chinese phone number; you can add this number in one of their supported websites, 360 Cloud is supported; then using their website you can get the SMS and finally use the code sent by 360 Cloud to be able to register. This is a paid service, yet is so cheap I didn't hesitate testing it. $0.1 USD per SMS. I made a $1 USD recharge to my account using PayPal, so it's safe. Here are the steps to get the verification code using this service:

2.1) Create an account at http://www.getsmscode.com/ (email, password, verification email).
    2.2) Login to your account.
2.3) You start with free 0.2 in balance, but using this free credit the SMS received will be encrypted being illegible (Like W*a*s*p* *o*e*9*5*1*1). You can test the service beforehand if you want. I'd reccomend adding some real credit first to get the 360 Cloud code legible. To add credit, at the bottom of "User Home" section you can read "3. Top up you account,we accpect Paypal and Bitcoin". Follow the link. Follow the website steps to add balance. I followed the in middle stepts to add $1 USD balance (send payment, transaction ID, submit). Maybe less credit can be added. PEOPLE: I know paying in an unknown website can be frightening but I've already tested and it works!! (= Less than $1 USD to get 4TB of online storage is a good deal!!
2.4) Now return to User Home (menu on the left, first option) and follow the steps to use the service at the bottom. In synthesis that is select: 360 Cloud as favorite service; select Get Verify SMS, Chinese Mobile, Get Chinese Phone Number. Select 360 Cloud, click to Capture Phone Number. Use that phone number at http://yunpan.360.cn/reg. Omit the +86 at the beginning of the number you have.
2.5) If 360 Cloud new account form sends an error about the phone number already used, just try again with another one (at getsmscode.com click Add to Blacklist button, then Release Number button, then Capture Phone Number button and try again)
2.6) After some seconds if everything went OK, you'll get the code at the botton text field at getsmscode.com (section Get SMS). You'll see chinese characters and some numbers. Use those to register at 360 Cloud!!
2.7) Greetings, you've overcame that annoying mainlaind chinese phone number step to register!!1! =D

    3) Now login at http://c66.yunpan.360.cn/my and you're in!!! 360 GB for free by now. Let's now change our login from the phone number we used to a custom username. Much better.
3.1) In the upper right corner there is a grey guy icon and an arrow, click it, a menu will appear.
3.2) Click the first option. This is the Security Center section.
3.3) The very first option will open a new tab to i.360.cn To be clear I can't remember the exact steps, but translating the website to your language using Google Chrome, I'm sure you'll find here an option to set your username. Is the only option there if I remember well. The site will search if your username is available. If yes, save it and now you won't need that phone number to login, you can now login with your custom username and password!!

    4) To upgrade you can now follow the rest of the article guide. Remember, you won't get 36 TB anymore, just 4TB.
4.1) The guide steps where it mentions about a big yellow button are outdated, so avoid those steps. Just install the Windows and Android clients as described. (The article links are still functional).
4.2) Install the Windows client and login. You'll upgrade to 1TB!
4.3) Install the Android client. To login, click the 360 button, not the blue one. Type your user and password and tap the grey button. You now have upgraded your account to 4TB!!! ^_^

Is seems to be the account has some gamification, as you can level up and get more storage, I don't know how, but this will get you started people. If you manage to get more storage someway please share!!!

P.S. If the author of this article reads this comment, PLEASE update your article with this information if you think it's a good share. THANKS and good luck everyone!!!!!!
    Greetings from Mexico!!

    • Charlie Summners July 1, 2016, 19:50

I posted this in another comment above, but you can easily get more than the current 4T by being consistent and perform the required steps every day. Go to the menu item with a rectangle enclosing “LV” (or click the level button near your login info in the upper-left of the Windows App) you’ll see the required steps to level-up…you can get up to 80 points per day, and while it takes a while if you’re patient and consistent, you WILL get more space. Once you hit level 25, every level between that and 30 earns you 10T extra space! My current space is 87.3 Terabytes, but I’ve been doing this a long time…

      • metafaniel July 4, 2016, 23:59

Thanks. I didn’t notice your comment above, I just wanted to update the steps to login for everyone to try. I knew about leveling up, but thanks a lot for the info! I’ll try to upgrade as you advised me. 87 T? Wow that’s enough to backup your entire digital life haha.

        • Charlie Summers July 5, 2016, 20:26

It doesn’t look like the other comment was approved, but yeah, if you are really patient you can build a lot of space. The daily draw alone in the early levels is a lot (the wrapped-package icon), and early levels don’t take long to achieve. Each level requires more points…I’m better than half-way between level 30 and 31, and still have another 1590 points to go (at 80/day, another 20 days!).

I wish I had the bandwidth to actually USE it…I barely have 1G uploaded so far.

    • thiago August 19, 2016, 22:35

I have downloaded the QQ database which is very easy to use, but it only has 1.024 TB of space, you need to pay for larger space.
I am having trouble downloading the Yupan, I cannot get a verification code via cell phone

  • JoeTheFox September 18, 2016, 10:43

You can just use Tencent Weiyun to get free 1TB Storage and it’s completely trustable. They own WeChat and other widely popular Chinese services. Here’s a link to the tutorial – http://www.1mtb.com/how-to-get-10-tb-free-online-cloud-storage-from-tencent-weiyun/

    • Charlie Summers September 19, 2016, 20:18

The problem with Tencent is the 1G/day upload limit on free accounts, and I can’t figure out how someone outside China (I’m in the U.S.) can pay them for VIP status, which increases uploads to 20G/day. (My earlier comment here requesting suggestions on how to pay wasn’t approved.)

  • Nitol September 22, 2016, 13:00

It demands mobile number and verification code from that number. But it never accepts the local number and the length limit does not allow to put my number in international scale. How can I solve this problem?

    • metafaniel September 23, 2016, 23:57

Hi! Did you read my howto comments above?
You can use this service: http://www.getsmscode.com/ Please take a look to my guide above for a more detailed explanation.

TLDR.- Pay a little fee (cents) to be able to use a chinese phone number to crteate your account. 100% tested it works. GOOD LUCK!

    • Marcel September 26, 2016, 15:29

You need to use China mainland (not Hong Kong number +85)
china number start with a +56 than numeration u need to write the number without the +86 example

If anyone is interested, I hit Level 32 today, and did NOT get a 10T bump, as I have between Level 25 and Level 31. The level-up page says, badly-translated, “Accumulate space award – no access level space award, up to level 5 of the award 1G” – not sure what that means, but I guess the only way I can reach 100T is through the daily draws, which means it’ll take a while. Still, at 97.4 terabytes, I can’t complain…

    The problem with http://www.getsmscode.com/
is that don’t have china numbers enymore only hong kong that are useless for 360 registration.

Really? At the time I wrote the little howto, I didn’t have any problem, I’m still using my account. However one problem I have is that the phone number I used with that service was a temporal one, so it doesn’t exist anymore, and there are certain options that can’t be changed online, and I need that phone, so I can’t change some options because another SMS is required. A shame, but not something really bad though

360 closed down today (20 October 2016). Actually they turned off file sharing today, will turn off uploading 1 November, and will close the system down completely on 1 February 2017.

So that’s the reason! I haven’t been able to upload anything these days, I have an error. I managed to copy the chinese text of the sync client notification with a tool “360 cloud synchronization version
      Synchronization failed
Notice: The upload service is stopped”

I thought it was an error from my end. So it’s not? What a shame!!! Thanks for sharing this with us U__U

Please check this using Google translate:

From February 1, 2017 cloud disk data will be no longer retained , 360 will close all account and clear the cloud disk data, please be sure to back up your data before downloading.

  • Ankur October 29, 2016, 01:21

Is there any other service like this on the net.
The 10Tb link is also giving just 1Tb free.

I think Baidu is the most stable right now with probably the most realistic offering of 2Tb. I can see many file integration providers integrate with Baidu but never integrated with Yunpan or Weidisk.

    • metafaniel December 5, 2016, 22:26

Thanks for sharing some alternatives. Do you have experience with Baidu? Is it a stable service? What do you think about it? I’ll take a look on the net about Baidu. Thanks

Lastly – even though the electricity is fraction of cost in other countries, storage isn’t so power dependent as say bitcoin mining, so the economies of scale here are more limited and companies have to come with a business plan. Offering TBs of free space is not a business plan. It’s question of time when Weidisk starts charging for the space, if they want to survive and not face similar fate.

Tried this today (1/15/2017) and it requests a phone number, not email.

  • Neal Piche March 6, 2017, 08:30

Has anyone figured out how to sign up now that they want a chinese phone # to register?

  • user135711 August 23, 2017, 00:25

As of today, you can sign up for qihoo 360 using a number from getsmscode.com but you only get 5 gigs and it expires after a month.
