Snapchat has recently introduced a new feature called geofilters. This is a truly amazing option that lets you share your geographical location on Snapchat without explicitly saying where you are. This feature unlocks new filters based on your location in addition to the already existing Snapchat filters.
The geofilters on Snapchat are currently available only for a few special locations in New York and Los Angeles. But, we expect to see special geofilters for every special location around the world in the near future.
How To Use Snapchat Geofilters?
Using Snapchat geofilters is very easy and doesn’t take much effort. After you are done taking a photo, swipe from right to left. If there is a Snapchat geofilter available in your current location, it will overlay on your photo. Then, all you need to do is hit send.
To use Snapchat geofilters you need to enable location services in your smartphone. To enable location services on an iOS device, go to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services and turn it on. After you have turned on the location services on your iOS device, you will find all the apps that use location. Turn on the location service for Snapchat if it is not already enabled by default. Don’t worry about enabling the location services for Snapchat because it promises that it won’t store your location data.
At What Locations Are The Snapchat Geofilters Currently Available?
The Snapchat Geofilters are currently available only at special locations in New York and Los Angeles like Venice, Malibu, Santa Monica, Getty Center, Beverly Hills, Disneyland etc.
Making these beautifully designed geofilters available at many other special locations will make using Snapchat a much more immersive experience that its users will definitely enjoy.
For the uninformed, Snapchatters have had the ability to use special filters for a long time. Snapchat already has two types of filters: visual filters and smart filters. Visual filters are normal filters that you can overlay over your photos while the smart filters let you overlay the time, temperature or speed at which the photo was taken.
So, have you used the new Snapchat geofilters? If yes, how do you like them? Also, do let us know of other locations where the Snapchat geofilters are available.
Update: Snapchat geofilters has grown on to become an extremely popular feature on Snapchat. Snapchat has added geofilters at lots of new locations, places, landmarks etc. and has even given its users the ability to submit custom Snapchat community geofilters for various locations.
