This update lets WhatsApp reach more users and is also a major convenience for the existing users. You can pay for the subscription fees of your contacts (friends, family, colleagues etc.) that you regularly keep in touch with. This avoids your costly text messaging and voice call bills for a meager 99 cents per year.
