The people you follow on Twitter increase day by day and many of you should be following hundreds or thousands of users on Twitter. Everyday we get lots of tweets/retweets in our Twitter feed, and most of the tweets are garbage or highly irrelevant to us. Wouldn’t it be cool if we could customize our Twitter feed and see only tweets from the users we like or the users who are important to us? The ‘mute’ feature from Twitter lets you do exactly that.
Previously, to block a user from your Twitter feed, you had to unfollow the user or block him on Twitter and this would most probably create some unnecessary complication with the concerned user. But, with mute you can easily block a user’s tweets from your Twitter feed without blocking/unfollowing him. The user will also not know that you have blocked their tweets from your Twitter feed.
The muted user will still be able to see tweets from you on his Twitter feed and retweet/reply/favorite your tweets. The muted user can also send direct messages to you. Even though you have muted an user, you will receive notifications about @replies and @mentions from the muted user.
How To Mute/Block A User’s Tweets From Your Twitter Feed?
There are two ways by which you can block/mute a user’s tweets from your Twitter feed. You can either mute an user right from his tweet or from his profile page.
Muting An User From A Tweet
1. Find a tweet from the user you would like to block.
2. Click on ‘More’ at the bottom of the tweet.
3. Click ‘Mute’.
Muting An User From Profile
1. Open the profile page of the user you would like to block.
2. Click on the gear icon on the profile page.
3. Select ‘Mute’ from the drop-down menu.
By using any of the above two methods, you can mute/block an user from your Twitter feed. You can also unmute the user at any time by clicking on the red mute icon on the user’s profile page. So, go ahead and use the mute feature from Twitter to personalize your Twitter feed to your liking.
